Celebrate Christmas with Us!
When we think about Christmas, we think of music. We start the season by listening to non-stop coverage of festive tunes. We gather around to listen to carolers who march door to door and look forward to singing our favorite songs on Christmas Eve. The meaning of Christmas is often found in the melodies, harmonies, and poignant lyrics that capture our hearts. Sometimes, they remind us of family. Sometimes, they call us to give of ourselves and serve others. And often, they remind us of the amazing gift Jesus is for all of us.
That is why our Advent sermon series this year is “Christmas: The Soundtrack.” We will explore several of our most beloved Christmas/Advent hymns, including “Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus,” “O Little Town of Bethlehem,” “Joy to the World,” “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” and “Silent Night.” Through this, we will walk through the beginning of the Gospel of Luke as we expect and come to know our Savior, born in Bethlehem.
In our devotional booklet, each person will talk about how a particular Christmas song or hymn is meaningful to them. Be sure to listen to the song before or after you read! Thank you to all our contributors that were willing to share their favorite songs and author a devotion for us, as we reflect this season on Christmas music. It is our prayer that these devotions spark joy for you this Advent and Christmas season.
