Sanctuary Grand Reopening

On Sunday, March 30th, Sioux Falls First United Methodist Church will unveil its newly remodeled Sanctuary! The remodeling helps ensure that we can continue to provide engaging worship services and serve our members, visitors, and the Sioux Falls community for decades to come.

The First United Methodist Church congregation has faithfully served the Sioux Falls community for over 150 years and has been in its current building for over 100 years! The remodeled Sanctuary features a larger and more accessible chancel area, new audio, video, lighting, and refurbishment of the pews, flooring, and walls. The beautiful J.F. Nordlie three-manual and pedal organ and 42-foot dome remain centerpieces.

In addition to major Sanctuary remodeling, the exterior of the building was restored to protect it from water intrusion while maintaining its historic beauty. The church's music room, hallways, and stairwells were also improved.

Our congregation of 1,200 members from our beautiful building serves our downtown neighbors and the entire Sioux Falls community. In partnership with numerous community organizations, including Feeding South Dakota, The Banquet, and Nightwatch, our congregation served meals to more than 18,618 people in 2024! Our church building is home to KIDSTOP, an after-school program specifically serving students enrolled at Lowell, Garfield, Laura Wilder, Hawthorne, and Edison schools. South Dakota Toy Lending Library has also found a home in our building.

All are welcome to join our celebration on Sunday, March 30, during our three worship services, held at 8:30, 9:45, and 11:01 a.m.
